We are always encouraging those interested to come out to the meetings, shows, community events and help out and share your ideas and to work together in an effort bring awareness, peace and justice to our community, as well as organizing local events to bring awareness to global, and local issues as well. Peace Fest 2006!
Green and Libertarian candidates will join social-justice orgs, musicians, and artists to Address 'Challenges to safer Communities'
Riverside/San Bernardino—Donna Warren of the Green Party and Lynnette Shaw of the Libertarian Party, both candidates for California Lt. Governor, will present their ideas for building safer communities during Peace Fest 2006, a forum to encourage more youth involvement in local communities, along with hip-hop artists AR-15 (“Anti-Racist Fifteen”), Riverside-based artist Jason Jenkins, and All of Us or None, an organization that supports civil rights for ex-prisoners.
Peace Fest 2006 is presented by Inland Empire HardCore (IEHC) and Axis of Justice Inland Empire (AOJ-IE). June 24, 2006, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the Feldheym Library located at 555 W. 6th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410. Admission is free. All ages welcome. For more information call (909) 557-7982.
Peace Fest 2006 will also feature presentations by Jeffery Owens Community Center, Riverside Area Peace and Justice Action, Central City Lutheran Mission, as well as hip-hop music by Rebels to the Grain and an acoustic rock music performance by Adam Joad of the band 286.
AOJ-IE coordinator Ariel Muro says, "This forum is an open invitation to all community members to put aside political parties and social preferences and to work together to face and overcome our challenges to safer communities."
Muro adds, "After seeing the recent dismal voter turnouts in San Bernardino County, we want to encourage all community members, and especially young people, to get involved in our democracy beginning right here in our local neighborhoods."
